Welcome to Aotea Roast, New Zealand's pioneering off-grid coffee roastery!
It all started a few years back when the team at Aotea Roast found a great patch of dirt on Aotea/Great Barrier Island. With a Kiwi can-do attitude and a global appreciation for great coffee, they embarked on the journey to create Aotea Roast.
The Coffee Bar and Roastery is located in Medlands, alongside Aotea Brewery and a native plant nursery where they practice sustainable methods every step of the way. What began as a small, local venture has since grown into an online store helping bring their small-batch artisan coffee to the mainland crew.
The green beans are a thoughtfully curated selection of blends and single-origin varieties from Nicaragua, Mexico, Brazil, and Ethiopia. Each origin contributes its unique character coming together to create a smooth, full-bodied flavour profile with a velvety finish.
The humble Barrier roaster is set up in the middle of a paddock where their small-batch artisan blends are carefully tended to and roasted in their traditional Turkish-made gas roaster, all while being infused with the fresh salt air of Aotea.
The freshly roasted coffee beans are hand-packaged, carefully filled and sealed by their skilled team, ensuring that the flavours and aromas you crave are captured perfectly.
This month you are receiving their signature blend which boasts a delightful medley of tasting notes from the bright floral front that awakens your senses, to the velvety smoothness and a lingering rich caramel finish.
