Philippa moved to Waiheke in 2013 and when a local introduced her to Waiheke Bean it quickly became her favourite coffee! When she later opened the local organic shop she ensured there was always Waiheke Bean on the shelves.

When the previous roasters moved off island the decision to take on the roastery was an easy one. The previous roasters knew Philippa cared as much as them about sourcing organically grown fairly traded beans, roasting to a delicious medium, and packing in locally produced compostable packaging. She has loved keeping the beans perfectly roasted over the past couple of years, and bringing the good buzz to the Waiheke Bean regulars, a great bunch of coffee appreciators!
This month you will experience the Full Buzz, which is a smooth medium roast, comprising organic fair trade beans sourced from the highlands of Papua New Guinea. The flavours are complex, sweet, vanilla, chocolatey deliciousness. Philippa’s guy on the ground checks the berries and makes sure she gets the good beans, so you are in for a treat! Philippa roasts on a classic Yucel 10kg, then packs into fab Econic compostable bags.

Philippa prefers enjoying a long black with cream in the morning, and sometimes a piccolo in the afternoon for a little topup of caffeinated goodness. Coffee is a wonderful plant ally in everyday life, offering a sense of wellbeing, and fuelling the love!
