Velvet coffee Roasters was created by Stu in 2008 in order to create a unique artisan coffee company and sell only to passionate coffee operators who care about every part of the coffee making process and deliver a complete “Love In A Cup” coffee experience.

Stu came to the coffee world after 12 years in the wine industry, and his already exceptional palate became even more refined under the tutelage of a renowned coffee connoisseur. He started cupping and creating coffee blends and soon won his first New Zealand Coffee Award in 2008, one of the most prestigious awards at the time. Stu roasts on a 15 kilo Petroncini, dubbed Audrey, and she provides a perfectly roasted bean.

This month we are treated to the signature blend, known as Second Crack. Comprising of four speciality coffees, it is pre-blended and roasted to “2nd Crack”. It roasts to an even colour and delivers rich blackberry/cherry notes with tonnes of body. It has a long lingering chocolate finish and as a long black ends with a lovely winey/lemony zing.

This coffee delivers whether it be enjoyed as an espresso, plunger or through a stovetop. Using the finest estate coffees – the silky smooth flavour delivers every time. This shines through milky coffees.
