Roaster Collaboration #83 -Derelict

Roaster Collaboration #83 -Derelict
The Derelict story begins with a storm, flooding and a plan to buy an abandoned fertiliser shed.

Another link in a long chain of events. A chain that began with The Village Snob in 2016. Throw in some mental health challenges and a search for oneself,
and you find the indescribable feeling of being home, beyond the (Forgotten World) Highway. The Derelict story begins to paint a well-weathered picture.

Paul started roasting to fill spaces in projects such as the Coffee Advent Calendar produced in 2021/2022, and to be able to take more control of the coffees and their stories shared.

Paul wants people to understand coffee better, believing more questions followed by a better understanding will lead to better potential outcomes for the producers and their communities.

Paul has an Aillio Bullet for small batches and profiling, and uses a Yucel YM15 15kg roaster endearingly named Rosie for production roasting. Rosie is a basic old machine who can be relied upon to do the job right.

This month you are receiving Mangaparo, which is a blend of beans from Brazil and Colombia.  Paul calls Mangaparo a classic second wave espresso profile, with a light medium roast, and you can expect tasting notes of bakers chocolate, date and toasted walnut.

Mangaparo makes a killer espresso coffee, so a long black is the way to go and one is never enough! Let us know on Facebook or Instagram if you were able to stop at one, and of course head to Derelict to learn the whole story and take advantage of the discount offered to subscribers this month.
